Chipotle Mexican Grill, Madison
John ate the prime rib dinner. JM ate the BBQ chicken and a lemonade. Nichole ate the crab-stuffed chicken and a hot cocoa. Rose ate the chicken dinner. Sue ate the tenderloin dinner with an old fashioned. Tom ate the ribeye with a warm O'Doul's. Kavanaugh's Esquire Club on Sherman Avenue is a classic supper club or "blue hair" joint - don't blame us, we didn't say it!
John described it as a leisurely dining experience. From the relish dish with port wine cheese spread to the chocolate mousse cake, our time was pretty well spent. Even the dinner salads and chicken soup were made with care and the freshest, nicest variety of ingredients. As for entrees, the steaks got the highest rating from our group. Both Tom and John said they were crisp on the outside and tender inside though John said it wanted seasoning, which a little pepper helped.
The chicken dishes, on the other hand, won't bear repeating. The fried chicken dinner could have stood a little more time cooking, and the crab stuffing in the chicken breast was mostly damp bread and celery.
“Wine & Walk by The Sea” on the First Day of Autumn
JM's BBQ chicken was tasty if not stellar. Dessert, which was a slice of cake at either end of the table, was decent but not quite worth stuffing ourselves over. March 12, at PM Permalink Comments 0. Andrew and John ate the roast beef and cheese sandwich. JM ate the ham and cheese sandwich and a lemonade.
Nichole ate the turkey avocado sandwich with a house coffee. Rose ate a maple pecan scone. Samantha ate the veggie cream cheese sandwich with a latte. Sue ate the tuna and avocado sandwich with a ginger tea. A small chain in college towns, Espresso Royale tends to hit the nail on the head a little too hard.
It did have some of the friendliest staff we've had the pleasure to meet and we ain't their only fans. They handled our large group really well and even treated the table to some free chips. The two baristas were so busy keeping up with orders, however, that they'd not been able to wipe down any tables in a while - the crumbs were a bit gross. While we waited, we sorted the cards in the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? The sandwiches, while serviceable, weren't super special.

Almost all of us liked the sound of toasted bagel sandwiches, but in reality they were only toasty around the edges and still chilly in the middle. The tomatoes looked kind of sad it was March, after all.

Check out the ethereal glow on this sandwich, though:. Re: the beverages: Sue appreciated the style in which the tea was steeped, loose leaves placed in a large teabag that infused enough flavor even into a big mug. The coffee was par for the course, though the pint glasses tended to let it cool too fast. With all the coffee shops on State Street at least 15 , this one has less local charm.

Isthmus is right, Escape's got a large, lovely space. Rooms lead on to rooms all painted mellow colors. Our original guess was it used to be a dentist's office, but according to the barista, before Escape was a coffee shop, it was an arcade and a thrift store in the recent past which we vaguely remembered , and in the more distant past a machine shop and wagon maker.
The game selection was on the generous side for a cafe. JM just wishes that they wouldn't only shop at Wal-Mart. JM settled for an on-line TransAmerica thanks to Escape's free wifi. JM also enjoyed the bagel a great deal toasted with cream cheese , but found it no better or worse than the median of the type.

The chocolate muffin was surprisingly moist and yummy for a vegan treat. The huge mugs are also a plus. March 05, at PM Permalink Comments 4. Carlos Magno Nunes Barcelos.
